Automotive Usability Engineer

We are looking for a Usability Engineer responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into software prototypes. You will also design the overall functionality of the product and iterate upon it to ensure a great user experience. Collaborate with solution partners and development team members on UX/UI design. You will also lead a collaboration effort with Technische Universität Berlin on Usability Testing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop software prototypes for UI design

  • Create and deploy formal usability methods and define the desired outcome

  • Advocate and drive change for UI standards and sustainable usability improvements

  • Translate concepts into wireframes and mockups that lead to intuitive user experiences

  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces

  • Make user-experience design decisions related to core, and new, functions and features

  • Lead the software team in user-centered design approach and rapid design test and iteration

  • Collaborate with other team members, partners and stakeholders

  • Present UX training to developers

  • Champion new ideas

Job Qualifications:

  • Masters or advanced degree in Human Factors or Usability Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or Cognitive Psychology, preferably from a college of engineering or equivalent

  • 10 years Industry experience/ track record with all aspects of user-centered design and agile development

  • Proven experience using QT and advanced knowledge in C++ and objective programming

  • UX Design experience in high-tech industries or complex systems, with proven track record of design for technical domains

  • Initiative to plan, lead, and coordinate these activities as key contributor and consultant

  • Ability to create new UI designs from early concept through wireframes and interactive UI prototypes

  • Teamwork and innovation to create concepts within a given UI Standard, Style Guide and framework

  • Proficient or able to ramp up with UI Design tools – such as Figma, Kanzi, Sketch, Zeplin

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with domain experts, development teams, and stakeholders

  • Experience in touch UI design for both software and hardware, working knowledge of ergonomics. Mobile app experience desirable

  • Experience reviewing designs for usability and UI standards and providing recommendations to improve

  • Persistence and drive to contribute to UI Council, UI Standard evolution, and UX Evangelism in the organization
